With sweeping mountain views, coastal paths, and history at every turn, Turkiye is a lesser-known but rewarding hiking destination. Otherworldly Cappadocia is easily explored on foot and getting off the beaten path will help you to enjoy Cappadocia’s magnificent scenery away from the crowds. It’s easy to get on the trail on Marmaris, as you can depart on trails straight from the city and take in seaside views as you make your way along the path. Not far from the end of the Lycian Way lies one of Turkiye’s more remote trails, the St. Paul Trail, which travels through Turkish countryside, rather through tourist towns, providing a much more secluded, authentic hiking experience.

Float Through the Sky in a Hot Air Balloon

Listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985, Cappadocia is consistently chosen as the best place to ride a hot air balloon on our planet. Most rides go over Goreme National Park, which features the famous otherworldly fairy chimneys—caused by volcanic eruptions that scientists estimate took place between 14-60 million years ago.
What makes the hot air balloon rides over Cappadocia so special is the fact that fairy chimneys are not the only visual wonders to behold. Mushroom-shaped chimneys, cave castles, tabletop mountains, badlands, and amazing valleys all complement each other to form some of the most unusual and scenic landscapes in the planet which can all be observed in a hot air balloon ride at sunrise.
World-Class Windsurfing Destination

Constant and reliable wind conditions come together with turquoise blue waters, side-shore wind, and an opening to the Aegean Sea, making Alaçatı one of the most fun locations to windsurf in the world. Because of these favorable conditions, Alaçatı Bay has been home to many competitions and world championships in windsurfing over the years.
The bay’s warm, shallow water and soft sand makes it a perfect place for kids and beginners to enjoy the sport and safely develop their skills while surrounded by stunning coastal vistas. Alaçatı is also home to various windsurfing schools with rental equipment and experienced instructors ready to help students hone their craft.
Cappadocia: The Land of Beautiful Horses

It’s no surprise that Cappadocia is home to beautiful horseback riding routes—the name Cappadocia actually comes from the ancient Hittite word kaptpatuka which means “Land of Beautiful Horses”. For thousands of years, horses have been an integral part of the region’s history and bygone imagery depicts the ancient people tending to their horses. Cappadocian horse breeders were sought out by royalty and horses became a form of currency, as trades with the Romans for chariot races supported the Cappadocian economy.
Explore the landscapes on a native Anatolian or Arabic horse guided by a Turkish cowboy. Our guides will help you explore the region as you ride through beautiful valleys, over the badlands, through villages, and off-the-beaten paths. Make your way through the volcanic stone hills, passing several stunning fairy chimneys and churches along the way, and look out over breathtaking mountain vistas for as far as you can see. Naturally, sunrise and sunset horseback rides are gorgeous thanks to the scenic landscape.
Paragliding in Oludeniz

Towering above the town of Oludeniz on Turkiye’s southwest coast is Babadag (Father Mountain), whose thermals create the ideal conditions for paragliding takeoff. Experts tout Oludeniz as the best site in Europe for paragliding and it’s no wonder why—Babadag Mountain is one of the highest commercial launch sites for paragliding, starting at 6,500 feet, and its position in southern Turkiye means it benefits from a mild climate and favorable weather conditions.
Because of the popularity of paragliding in Oludeniz, there are a wide number of safe and dependable pilots and staff to ensure your journey is just as safe as it is thrilling. As you simply step off of the mountain, you’ll be surprised at just how gentle the scenic float down actually is, while you enjoy breathtaking views over Oludeniz lagoon on your trip down to the beach.
